即興の楽しみ

We use a small induction cooker for our cooking in our new flat. We have been waiting for gas to come for more than two months. Apparently if you want to get a gas cooker in your house quicker, you need to bribe some people… It is so India and it is so frustrating.

If you watch a film like “Indian” (A famous Tamil actor Kamal Hossan play double role), you know that it is not only me who are frustrating bribery in India.

Anyway, the first time I tried to make a coffee using my Italian coffee maker, I had some problem. The induction cooker kept showing the error sign on the screen with beeping sounds. I was bit panicked thinking “Oh dear! I have already broken a new cooker”.

But after while I realized that maybe because the bottom of the coffee maker was too small for the cooker and the cooker cannot recognise the coffee maker. So I put the coffee maker in to a pan and put on the cooker. Thanks God! It worked! So from then on, I put the coffee maker into a pan to make delicious coffee. It looks bit funny but it perfectly works. I use a spice grinder to grained coffee beans. Our life always needs some improvisation here and there and it has been fun!

引っ越してきてから、私達は、料理をするのに小さい電気コンロを使っている。２か月以上もガスが来るのを待っている。早くガスコンロを持ってきてもらいたければ、賄賂を払わないといけないらしい。ほんと、インドっぽくて、ほんといらいらしてしまう。

タミル映画「インド人」（有名なタイミル映画俳優カマル・ハッサンが、一人二役で出ている）のような映画を見れば、賄賂社会にフラストレーションを感じているのは、私だけではないということがわかってもらえると思う。

それは、さておき、ここにきて、初めてロンドンから持ってきたイタリアンコーヒーメーカーで、コーヒーを入れようと思ったら、電気コンロがちゃんと使えず、ピーっという音とともにエラーのサインしか表示されない。「やばい！新しい電気コンロ、もう壊しちゃったかも！」とちょっとパニック。

でも、少しして、コーヒーメーカーの側面が電気コンロに対して小さいからかも、ということに気づき、お鍋に入れて電気コンロに載せてみた。おおお、ちゃんと使えるではないですか。それから、美味しいコーヒーを入れると
きは、この方法で入れる。見た感じは、少し変だけど、ちゃんと入れられるから、良いでしょう。コーヒー豆を挽く時ときは、スパイス挽きを使っている。私達の生活は、あちこちと即興を強いられることがあるけれど、それもいとをかし。
