Hurrah! I got a new bicycle! Sunil is not really superstitious but he suggested me to follow an Indian tradition and crushed a lemon with my new bicycle before I rode on it.

Apparently this in one of many Indian superstitions. If you crush a lemon under the wheel of your new vehicle, you can prevent any future accidents. I see! No wonder you don’t see many accidents than you think even if people drive crazy here.

Sunil, our watchman Raju and his brother Rajesh were the witness in this small ceremony.

Now I can go for a cycling with Sunil on the mad Indian road and feeling safe :-). Yay!

やったあ！新しい自転車購入！ス二ルは普段は迷信深くないのだが、なぜか今回は、インドの伝統にのっとって、自転車に乗る前に、車輪の下にレモンをおいて、そのレモンを自転車で轢くようにと提案してきた。

これは、インドにある多くの迷信の一つで、新しい乗り物で、レモンを轢くと事故に遭うことを防げるらしい。
そっかあ、だから、狂ったような運転をする人が多いわりには、事故が少ないんだあと妙に納得。

ス二ル、管理人のラジュ、ラジュの弟のラジェシュがこの小さい儀式の立会人になってくれた。

さあ、これで、私もインドの道で安心してス二ルとサイクリングに行かれるぞ:-) イェ～イ！
